Where to find Winnie the Pooh toys and games online in Canada
Winnie the Pooh has been a favourite storybook character for more than eighty years. The first published book about this delightful Pooh Bear appeared in 1926. The English author A. A. Milne created the character from a teddy bear named Edward that his son Christopher played with. Other characters inspired from Christopher’s toy animals are Tigger, Kanga, Eeyore and Piglet. The story of how Edward bear became Winnie is a fascinating story that began in Canada. The First World War was raging in Europe. Canada, in those days, had an extremely strong relationship with Great Britain and troops from Canada joined the British to help win the war. Among a batch of Europe bound troops, traveling east from Winnipeg, Manitoba was a lieutenant by the name of Harry Colebourn. Harry could not know that his $20 purchase of an orphaned bear cub, that he named Winnipeg, during a stop at White River, Ontario would lead to the creation of one of the great and enduring storybook characters ever.
