The first published book about this delightful appeared in 1926. The English author A. A. Milne created the character from a Teddy Bear named Edward that his son Christopher played with. Harry's $20 purchase of that orphaned bear cub, that he named Winnipeg, during a stop at White River, Ontario ultimately inspired the creation of one of the greatest storybook characters ever.
